Always something exciting at Nu Metro

There’s a selection of movies to suit all tastes at Nu Metro cinemas. Here’s a selection of the films you can catch over the next few weeks:

A Complete Unknown (now showing)

(13) A biopic about music legend Bob Dylan’s early days on the New York folk scene in the 1960s, and his evolution into an artist in his own unique genre. Starring Timothée Chalamet, Edward Norton and Elle Fanning. (biopic, drama, music)

Den of Thieves 2: Pantera (now showing)

(16) The success of Den of Thieves in 2018 guaranteed a sequel, and here it is. This time, Gerard Butler and O'Shea Jackson Jr are playing cat-and-mouse against the Panther crime family in Europe – with a massive diamond heist planned. (action, thriller)

Luther: Never Too Much (opens 17 January)

(TBC) It’s a bumper month for singer movies. This one is a documentary rather than a biopic, tracing the 40-year career of R&B superstar Luther Vandross, charting tragedy and triumph. Featuring Jamie Foxx, Luther Vandross, Mariah Carey and Dionne Warwick. (documentary, music, drama)

A Real Pain (opens 24 January)

(13) Kieran Culkin and Jesse Eisenberg play American cousins with nothing much in common, except a plan to commemorate their grandmother with a tour of Poland, where she was born. Old tensions and long-buried family secrets make the trip an eventful bittersweet adventure. (comedy, drama)

Better Man (opens 24 January)

(TBC) Another singer biopic – but this one has a delightful Robbie Williams twist. The cheeky pop star gives us a version of his life with a CGI chimpanzee playing the lead, because Robbie has always ‘felt less evolved’ than everyone else. But the golden voice is still his, and the music will take fans back 30 years. (biopic, music, animation, comedy, drama)

The Day the Earth Blew Up: A Looney Tune Movie (opens 24 January)

(PG) Classic animation for the whole family. While causing havoc in a bubblegum factory, archrivals Daffy Duck and Porky Pig discover an alien plot to take over the world. Can they work together for a change, instead of at cross-purposes? The fate of the planet depends on it! Starring the voices of Eric Bauza, Candi Milo, Peter MacNicol, Fred Tatasciore and Laraine Newman. (family, animation, comedy, thriller)
